Yalba, which in Mayan language means people, is the name of this magnificent group, originally created in Mexico City in 1975 as a project of university students. The group later evolved into a professional six-piece band.

After many years of musical training and touring Yalba is now able to master an impressive variety of folkloric instruments from around the world, many of which are hand made by the group’s musical director Omar Gonzalez.

Yalba incorporates most musical styles in their show: Folk Music from North and South America, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Spain Norway and Swede, Tropical Music, Popular Music, Classical Music and Latin Jazz.

Yalba has performed in most major cities in their native country of Mexico but also Germany, Sweden and the United States. For the past 29 years Yalba has been the star act on cruise ships all over the world with some of the most prestigious cruise lines: Cunard, Holland American, Princess Cruises, Radisson Seven Seas, Costa Crociere, Sea Wind Crown, Norwegian Cruise Line, Epirotiki, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Cruises, Royal Olympic, Silversea, Saga Cruises, etc.

These days Yalba performs mostly as a duo. The group masters over 40 instruments and in a show where sometimes up to three instruments are played at the same time by each band member, the pure virtuosity and power of the show will leave you not only breathless but with an unforgettable experience.
